EVERY PERSON HAS A
UNIQUE FINGERPRINT.

EVERY ZEBRA HAS A
UNIQUE STRIPE PATTERN.

SO...DOES THAT MEAN EVERY
STRUGGLE HAS A
UNIQUE PURPOSE?

Hi, friend

What do you do when life keeps knocking you down? When it feels like your mind is at war with your soul?

It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Especially when your battles are invisible to the world.

When you’re hurting, it’s hard to seek encouragement or help… even though it’s exactly what you need. That was true for me, too. I’m really glad you found this resource, I wrote it for you.

By His Stripes: An Award-Winning Christian Book on Faith, Suffering, and Hope

The whole reason I wrote this book: to help you feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.

This is the book I wish I’d had when I was deep in the pit. I was searching for a Christian perspective on mental health, suffering, and some kind of hope I could grab onto.

So in this book:

  • We’ll get real and vulnerable. I don’t sugarcoat the hard stuff.

  • We’ll have some brutally honest conversations about OCD, chronic illness, faith, and finding hope when nothing makes sense anymore.

  • I’ll point you back to Biblical truth as you navigate physical or mental health suffering.

  • We’ll definitely laugh, too, because hope is every bit as real as pain. (And life’s heavy enough as it is, am I right?)

  • Oh, and don’t skip the last chapter! Future-you will thank you. It’s packed with some of my favorite books, podcasts, playlists, and other resources to keep encouraging you after you turn the last page.

One of my favorite ways to tell a story is through unique, eye-catching design, so I filled this book with artwork and visuals that help bring its message to life.

What mental health professionals be sayin'

"Whitney uses her gift with words to share how faith, humor, tenacity, and perseverance have enabled her to meet, identify, and manage multiple chronic medical and mental health challenges. There is no doubt Whitney's story will lift and inspire readers who have faced similar challenges and/or love someone who has."

Leah Farrell-Carnahan, PhD

“This remarkable book is a must-read for any Christian navigating the challenges of scrupulosity. It is a true gem, filled with wisdom, warmth, and so much hope. I can’t wait for everyone to read it and feel inspired!”

– Rev. Dr. Katie O’Dunne

"By His Stripes is one of the most honest, faith filled, and even unexpectedly funny books that I have read on mental health. Whitney has a gift with words. She doesn't tell you what it's like to live with OCD, Anxiety, and Depression – she lets you step right inside her experiences."

– Michelle Highfield, LPC

"Whitney’s raw and authentic depiction of living with anxiety, depression, and OCD, shows readers what it is like to be inside of the mind of those who suffer from mental illness. Whitney uses her faith as well as her humor, to not only survive, but to thrive, in the midst of suffering. This book is a gift to all those who will read."

Carolyn Ringenberg, LCSWA

Is This Book For You?

Let me answer your question with a couple questions.

  • Do you live with OCD, anxiety, depression, or a chronic illness?

  • Are you carrying pain no one else can see or understand?

  • Are you searching for a Christian perspective on mental health or suffering?

  • Do you want to feel hopeful again without pretending everything’s fine?

  • Has it been a while since you’ve laughed? Like…really laughed?

  • Do you feel like you’re surviving from day to day, barely keeping your head above water?

  • Do you just need someone who gets it?

If you caught yourself nodding along to any of these questions, then yep. This book is for you!

I can’t promise the road suddenly gets easier. But I’d love to walk through these pages with you.

If my book helps even one person feel less alone, it will be worth it.

The Word Be Gettin' Out There

I’ll never stop being amazed by opportunities like these. Not because of the recognition, but knowing this will help my message reach more readers who need it. I am grateful, but ultimately God gets all the glory.

By His Stripes is hands down a book you need to read whether you have OCD or not. Whitney will make you laugh, cry, and show you how God works for good no matter what you’re going through.”

– Caleb Horton

This book is a bold and much-needed book on a topic many people face but few discuss openly. What stands out most is her willingness to confront these difficult realities head-on, without sugarcoating the pain or pretending faith makes everything easy. She weaves in humor, perseverance, and a deep reliance on her faith to offer real hope and practical encouragement.
